We are JoReC, or Jordan Recycling and upcycling Center. We established through a joint effort of Jordanian, German, Swiss, and Belgium Chemical and Environmental Engineers. In 2018 the first activities have started to increase the environmental situation in Jordan as a result of re- & upcycling.
The founders started by recycling plastic irrigation sheets used in agriculture – every year new plastic sheets are applied on the fields to save water. The plastics used in last year’s harvest are commonly ploughed into the soil, thereby becoming smaller and impossible to collect after some cycles (microplastics). We saw the need for a new view on integral use of plastic throughout the whole product life cycle. We continued to develop innovative waste collection, separation and recycling processes. All of our projects are tailored for the Jordanian market and cultural mind set considering plastics.
JoReC has collected a broad experience of practical and applicable recycling skills. Due to the huge interest in skills regarding recycling, a training center has been added to the JoReC organization. We estimate a rough 20 000 jobs to be created to the recycling and waste management sector of Jordan.
